Having worked in landscaping and construction side by side
with immigrants from "south of the border" I am always amazed
to hear bigots characterize Chicanos and Latinos as lazy. Far from it.
Even when they seem to be moving slower it's only because they're
pacing themselves in that slow-and-steady-wins-the-race way. I
don't want to replace a negative stereotype with a positive one because
every person should be treated as an individual case, but if people
insist on marking trends let them at least be favorable and accurate.
